Reports to: Manager FLSA: Non-Exempt

Compensation Range: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).


Hours Worked
: Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned on evenings and weekends.


Position Summary:
The Molecular Biologist II is responsible for efficient delivery of data from molecular, cellular, and molecular pharmacological biochemical assays. They are highly organized, able to execute and develop protocols for various laboratory techniques and adhere to good research practice (GRP) requirements. They are an detail-oriented laboratory scientist, conducting biochemical assays among other laboratory responsibilities independently or with little guidance from client scientists and can deliver and interpret data in a timely manner. They exhibit quality and compliance in their daily work. They are a champion of and promote the organization’s Values and Absolutes. The Molecular Biologist will complete their regular assigned daily work while meeting the expectations outlined below.


Duties and Responsibilities:
It is everyone’s responsibility to live out our Values and Absolutes by Shaping a World of Trust while ensuring responsible progress.

  • Grow, treat, and transfect mammalian cells. Isolate RNA, protein, for use in biochemical assays.
  • Perform standard molecular/cellular biology techniques including, but not limited to PCR, qPCR, and kinase assays
  • Perform in vivo rodent tissue collections and subsequent processing of tissue for use in biochemical assays.
  • Process, analyze, organize, and interpret data for presentation to responsible scientist(s).
  • Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, and maintain clean, well-functioning laboratory environment.
  • Is accountable for safe work environment, confidentiality policies, following protocols, and meeting deadline assigned by scientist in charge.
  • Report progress on assigned tasks to the scientist in charge on a daily/weekly or monthly basis for set milestones, goals.
  • Meet with scientists to understand needs, adapt and ensure expectations are communicated clearly, concisely as well as timelines to complete.
  • Meet regularly with the scientist and manager to discuss progress, upcoming work changes, and any new items.
  • Perform eLN (electronic lab notebook) entries and corrections in a timely manner while complying with guidelines
  • Perform other essential tasks, projects, and responsibilities as required.
  • Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc (BVCPS) Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with clients and BVCPS management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth in by clients and the BVCPS Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.


Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Ability to independently perform complex biochemical assays and deliver data in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Ability to think critically about data and troubleshoot assays as needed.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills such as communication, being approachable, showing initiative, being adaptable and projecting an outward positive attitude
  • Represents the company in a way to exceed client expectations through a high level of professionalism, reliability, and willingness to get the job done
  • Professional, clear and concise communicate required in both written and verbal formats
  • Proven Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand job-specific software is required
  • Ability to understand basic scientific terminology and communicate it to others
  • Team-oriented and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Be a proven multi-tasker that truly thrives on juggling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to quickly assess project status and communicate it effectively
  • Driven, energetic person able to coordinate activities among different areas of the department
  • Champions company values including team engagement


Education and Experience:
  • Degree requirement: BS in Biology, Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Preferred two (2) years of experience with biochemical techniques including but not limited to qPCR, FLIPR kinase assays, and mammalian cell culture.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with data analysis.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn/perform in vivo rodent tissue collection.


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
