Burien Press/Moonshot Coffee Barista
Plants & Animals (Burien Press, Moonshot Coffee, Fable All Day, and Seasmith) is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Barista to join our south-end team at Burien Press and Moonshot Coffee. Scheduling is typically split between the two cafes.
Baristas work as members of Plants & Animals’ team, are supervised by Shop Coordinators, and work closely within service and special project teams. Baristas are accountable for the team’s success in fulfilling on company values, creating and maintaining a hospitable, welcoming, and functional environment, preparing and selling delicious drinks and food, and fulfilling on the goals and projects that contribute to the lasting operational and financial success of each restaurant.

Baristas work collaboratively to ensure our spaces, guests, and fellow team members are taken care of, be that via daily service making delicious food and beverages, participating in training and continuing education, ensuring deadlines are met, and the completion of projects in a manner consistent with quality control measures. All members of our team have a direct impact on our program’s success, from organizing deliveries to different cafes to preparing the delicious items we have on offer at our various spots. In support of providing hospitality for all, we all cross-train across cafe tasks and are trained on prep, baking, cooking, assembly, service, and care of the space and team. Experience is a plus, and training is provided.

Position Description
General Accountabilities
- Participate in consistent restaurant hospitality, preparation of offerings, environment, and operations.
- Contributing to a high-performing team that works together collaboratively to uphold and further Plants and Animals’ values.
- Actively engaging in expanding a team culture of kindness, dignity, and respect that is the foundation for the hospitality offered to our team, guest, and community.
Specific Duties
- Fosters consistent, kind, and supportive hospitality to Plants and Animals team members and guests.
- Ensures a clean and welcoming environment where all guests are treated with kindness and dignity and have the experience of being valued, seen, heard, and cared for.
- Fulfill on standard bar service during 4-5 shifts each week.
- Maintains and delivers excellent food and drink preparation and service.
- Perform Open/Service/Close procedures associated with scheduled shifts.
- Maintains the physical and emotional safety of restaurant environment.
- Maintains proper safe handling and storage of food products
- Committed to consistently creating and offering excellence in coffee, beverage, beer, wine, food preparation, retailing and service.
- Uses time effectively in care of spaces, preparation for service, fulfillment of tasks, development of products, participation in teams, and effective communication.
- Ensures the success of Shop Coordinators and Plants and Animals team.
- Participates in preventative maintenance of all equipment.
- Participates in troubleshooting and repair of small repairs and maintenance and work with Shop Coordinators towards resolution of larger repair and maintenance projects.

- Participate in plans to elevate product quality and guest experience, as well as minimize waste and reduce costs.

Pay: $20.76 - $30.76 per hour
