School Secretary Job Description
Job Title: School Secretary
Reports To: Principal
Qualifications:
Education:
● High School Diploma required
● Associate Degree in business is preferred, with emphasis on secretarial and computer subjects (Quality office experience will be considered)
Experience: Minimum of three years experience in a public or private sector business function with an emphasis on multi-tasking is preferred but not required
JOB FUNCTIONS:
● Responsible for basic document preparation, keyboarding and routing, filing, and retrieval of documents, both manual and electronic
● Professionally handle confidential and private information with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
● Work cooperatively with school personnel to ensure the timely completion of tasks
● Collate information from databases and other resources in order to produce documents and reports
● Provide support for and preparation of all pertinent correspondence from, to, and for the supervisor(s)
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:
● Document preparation using word processing and electronic filing and communication systems
● Maintain office communications including incoming/outgoing mail, telephone/fax and e-mail
● Maintain good rapport with internal staff, school district and community through verbal communication
● Must be well organized and reliable with excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with a wide variety of people, both in person and through various means of communication
● Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee
QUALITIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
● Must have excellent clerical experience, typing/computer skills (must be experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
● Must be well organized, reliable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, accuracy and attention to details are a must as well as able to work under stress of deadlines
● Must possess the skills and abilities to professionally interact with a wide variety of people in person, in writing and by phone
● Must possess strong customer relations abilities and demonstrate leadership skills
● Must have good telephone manners and communication skills (written and verbal)
● Possesses organizational skills
● Utilizes time management skills
WAGE/SALARY LEVEL: As established by BCBOE policy
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days per year, 8 hours per day.
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated annually by principal

Salary : $24,222 - $35,958
