Job Description
Job Title: Student Information Specialist (SIS)
Reports To: SIS Director/Principal
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Essential Knowledge/Skills:
- Have proven skills in computer data manipulation
- Good verbal and written communication required
- Knowledge of the current student information system
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications
- Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communication
Experience:
Minimum of three years of experience working with Georgia schools along with one year of previous experience using computer programs and data entry.
Job Function:
This position is responsible for inputting, processing and reporting student data required for local, state and federal reporting requirements; for coordinating the student data verification and internal control processes at the school level; and for serving as a support resource for school staff using the student information system.
Specific Responsibilities:
Inputs and retrieves student information data. Inputs enrollment, demographics, daily attendance, grades, GPS, transcripts, and discipline data into the student information system and outputs data to satisfy requirements of Burke County Public Schools' school administrators and teachers of the state of Georgia Department of Education, federal government, and college/univerisities.
Oversees student entry and withdrawal from Burke County Public Schools. Enrolls new students throughout the year; enters student and demoographic information; processes arriving students' cumulative records; prepares cumulative records for departing students; and withdraws departing student
Gathers, monitors, and enters attendance information into the student information system. Receives student attendance from teachers; monitor student absences for correct state-mandates coding; prepares and maintains student sign-in/sign-out logs; corresponds with parents concerning student absences and tardiness; supports and follows up on teachers concerning attendance and grade posting
Responsible for attending meetings and participating in professional development activities (regular workshops and training sesssions necessary to maintain proficiency in the use of all current student information software)
Maintain a high level of confidentiality in the administration of all student information
WAGES/SALARY LEVEL: As established by BCBOE policy
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 230 days per year, 8 hours per day
EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated annually by the Principal
