JOB SUMMARY:
Assists in purchasing, warehousing, supplying inventory, distributing supplies, acquiring capital equipment, and ensuring quality to the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:
- Daily management of all non-implant surgical supplies to include:
- -assessing, recommending, and modifying min/max stocking levels.
- -requisitioning and maintaining supplies on hand within the min/max levels.
- -stock rotation to ensure expiration date integrity.
- Works with Purchasing buyers to help expedite vendor backorders.
- Receives restocks incoming orders and communicates discrepancies to Purchasing for resolution.
- Reviews Purchasing reports for slow move/no move inventory analysis to make commendations for preference card updates.
- Makes bin location changes for any necessary relocation of supplies.
- Consolidates any supplies kept in multiple bin locations whenever possible.
- Identifies product duplications for possible standardization review and cost reduction opportunities.
- Identifies erratic or unsatisfactory product availability to proactively review options with clinical end users.
- Cycle counts any high cost/high turnover targeted supplies to monitor erratic usage patterns.
- Responsible for issuing implant vendors purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Creates and maintains a positive and trustworthy community image and respectful attitude
- Participates in team approach throughout the organization
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective, and cost-conscious manner, complying with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required/Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of purchasing related experience is preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare purchasing, inventory management systems, procurement, supplies distribution/operations and capital equipment
- Thorough working knowledge of supply chain and materials management policies and procedures
- Complete knowledge of tools and all related skill area machines and equipment
- Knowledge of MicroSoft Office and other management software
- Good analytical and negotiating skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sitting, standing, walking bending/twisting, kneeling/squatting, reaching, climbing and should be able to lift 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Possible exposure to communicable and infectious disease and hazardous materials.
