High School Ag Teacher
Burlington High School is looking for a highly motivated Ag Teacher to work full time. We offer a single health insurance, vision and life insurance policy fully paid by the District. Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
Burlington High School has approximately 200 students. This is currently a one teacher program with approximately 80 students enrolled in Agriculture Education. A potential expansion to a 2 teacher program is on the horizon. The community and administrative support for the ag-ed program and the Burlington FFA Chapter is outstanding. The building principal is a former ag teacher and FFA Advisor of 25 years. The character, talents, achievements and ambition from students in the program is extraordinary.
We have 2 significant avenues of fundraising, both with our Banner Sponsorship Program and Annual Labor/Silent Auction. The program is in excellent financial condition. The shop has recently acquired a new 4’x8’ Arclight Plasma Table, Scotchman Ironworker, Ellis Band Saw, and several multi-process welders (both Lincoln and Miller). Our FFA greenhouse has been fully renovated (new glass, new cooler, refurbished electrical system and heater) and is ready for a full production season. We also have a new aquaponics lab (currently set up with tilapia, lettuce and peppers) in the classroom.
The professional contract is 165 days plus an extended contract of 22 days. There is an ag pickup available for home to work/work to home. We have a 4-day school week with Fridays off. We typically have 1.5 professional days per month on those Fridays. The current class schedule (local titles) is as follows:

The town of Burlington and Kit Carson County is an excellent place to start, raise and/or finish a family. It’s a traditional agricultural community with strong traditions and values. We’re located on the I-70 corridor, with easy access to Denver and Colorado Springs (both 2 ½ hours), Denver International Airport (2 hours, 15 minutes), Goodland, Kansas (30 minutes), Colby, Kansas (1 hour) and Hays, Kansas (2 ½ hours).
