Burlington High School anticipates an opening for a highly motivated and qualified EL Teacher to join our summer school team. This program is designed for rising 10th graders seeking credit recovery (i.e. pursuing additional review and reteaching of 9th grade core proficiencies). This is a temporary position for the duration of the summer term with student attendance from 8:30-11:30 each day with additional paid planning time available. Classes will be synchronous and in-person on our campus.
Subjects that will likely be supported by an EL Teacher over the course of the program:
- English Language Arts
- Science
- Social Studies
- Math
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and deliver effective lesson plans that align with the curriculum and standards for the respective subject.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagementand active participation.
- Employ various instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to ensure continuity of curriculum and student support.
- Assist general educators in routine contact with multilingual parents/guardians regarding student performance and progress.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Participate in professional development opportunities as required.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
Valid teaching certification/license in the subject area(s) applying for.
Previous teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of the subject matter and ability to effectively deliver content to multilingual learners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Familiarity with technology and its integration into the classroom.
Certification/Endorsement:
High school licensure in the content area for which you are applying.
At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
Bachelor degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required
