What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optical Manager position at Burman & Zuckerbrod Ophthalmology Associates?
Burman & Zuckerbrod Ophthalmology Associates, GNB Optical, an established ophthalmology practice, is looking to grow all three of our optical locations and is looking to add an Optical Manager.
The Optical Manger role will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks.
- Assist patients daily, taking part in sales, dispenses, order inspection, adjustments and repairs.
- Lead and coach all optical employees in best practices for sales and patient education.
- Lead staff meetings and discussions with optical employees under the direction of the Practice Manager.
- Ensure that each location has submitted and processed all claims and payments at the end of each business day. Process claims and payments as needed to support the optical staff.
- Submit practice management sales reports on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. These sales reports will include sales but also a range of other benchmarks common in optical dispensing and management.
- Work with frame vendors to maintain and update inventory as needed, ensuring that stock is well controlled, and costs are kept low.
- Work with optical labs to ensure efficient processing of orders while maintaining costs.
- Lead staff in inventory activities to track and monitor all supplies and revenue.
- Track sales trends to address areas of improvement in a timely manner.
- Work with all locations, optical staff and Practice Manager to implement an electronic point of sale system.
- Actively work within the electronic point of sale system to maintain inventory, insurance plans and other pertinent data.
- Routinely report to practice management and ownership as requested.
The Optical Manager will report directly to the Practice Manager. This Optical Manager must be available to work in all three of our locations, traveling between the sites as necessary and covering shifts as an optician as needed. The Optical Manager must be available to work day shifts, Monday through Friday. The Optical Manager can expect to routinely work within the point of sale system to continually enter and update data.
Although we do not require the right candidate to have optical management experience, we do require all candidates to have experience as an optician, including work with an electronic point of sale system for sales and inventory.
