What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Technician – Ready Mix Concrete position at BURNCO LLC?
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality control tests on ready-mix concrete, including slump, air content, unit weight, and strength testing.
- Sample and test raw materials such as aggregates, cement, and admixtures for compliance with specifications.
- Monitor concrete batch processes to ensure consistency and adherence to mix designs.
- Document and analyze test results, identifying and addressing any inconsistencies or deviations.
- Work closely with plant operators, drivers, and contractors to resolve quality concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist in developing and modifying concrete mix designs to meet project specifications.
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and company-specific quality standards.
- Maintain calibration and proper operation of testing equipment.
- Conduct job site inspections to evaluate concrete performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Support the implementation of quality control and safety policies and procedures.
- Enter test data into data management system
- Follow proper company policies, procedures, laws, and regulations including OSHA safety and quality standards
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction materials, engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- 1 years of experience in ready-mix concrete quality control, construction materials testing, or a related field preferred.
- ACI (American Concrete Institute) or TxDOT certifications preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and testing procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical data and generate reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly outside and exposed to various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures and rain/snow conditions.
- Required PPE includes safety shoes above ankles, safety vests, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hats. Additional PPE required if performing special jobs.
- Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record.
