GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for evaluating individuals suspected of emotional or
substance abuse problems for the purpose of assessment and possible involuntary commitment or treatment.
Duties include an element of personal danger; including but not limited to : exposure to life threatening
circumstances, counseling dangerous and aggressive youth, and evaluation and recommendation of persons
actively engaged in a mental health or substance abuse crisis. Must be able to act without close supervision
while exercising independent judgment. Performs duties in accordance with state and local statutes, as well as
established departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. This position requires advanced education and
is FLSA exempt.
