Summary A BCSO Cadet is a Burnet County Sheriff's Office member who has been hired and sponsored to attend a TCOLE-approved law enforcement academy or is currently attending such an academy. To qualify, the applicant must be able to gain entrance into the academy, meet all relevant requirements, and be at least twenty-one (21) years of age by the time of academy graduation. Full probationary Deputy Sheriff employment is conditional and contingent upon successful completion of the academy and passing the TCOLE licensing examination. This position involves entry-level law enforcement work under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of independent judgment.
