Summary:
This position involves financial accounts and record keeping according to standard accounting practices, receptionist, clerical duties, and related responsibilities for the Burnett County Treasurer’s Office. Basic knowledge of property legal descriptions preferred. Must be eligible to be bonded.
Essential Functions of the Position:
The following duties are illustrative and the person holding this position may be required to perform other duties of a similar nature or otherwise related to the position.
- Receipt property tax payments in Novus software program
- Receipt County monies in New World software program
- Research records and assist in-person and over the telephone regarding tax related questions from landowners, realtors, banks, mortgage companies and other government offices.
- Prepare and file payment vouchers, reports, letters and other correspondence
- Tax Deed processing as outlined in state statutes
- Generate accounts payable payments for off-site printing and in-office check printing
- Generate payroll for ACH and in-office check printing
- Transmit accounts payable payment files to FIS and positive pay files to bank
- Reconcile and process municipal delinquent special assessments, charges and utilities
- Prepare and mail statements of delinquent taxes, tax certificates, postponed tax postcards and notices of publication on delinquent taxes
- Submit monthly online report - Real Estate Transfer Fee Transmittal
- Process monthly Novus reports for Special Assessments to be paid to Towns/Villages
- Process monthly Fines Due to State
- Process monthly Register of Deeds Fee Submission Report
- Record monthly and submit quarterly Probate and Vital Record Fees
- Prepare and process daily deposit summary and balance cash drawer
- Distribute mail and drop box correspondence
- Reconcile accounts payable paper checks, ACH payments debited in County Government approved banking facilities, ACH payments and vCard issued through FIS-IP, Payroll – direct deposit, and non-banking internal ACH entries in New World software program
- Enter address changes in Novus software program
- Maintain contact with municipal treasurers regarding annual tax bills and documents
- Prepare The Year-End Specials Tax Status Report and forward to the Town/Village Treasurers for their yearly audit
- Fiscal duties to the level of competence of the County Treasurer requirements
- Lottery Credit processing and general maintenance of records
- Complete MFL Enrollment Review based on notification from DNR
- Process outstanding check notifications and voided checks
- Handles electronic filing and records retention

Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree in Business, Accounting, or related field, or three years’ experience in a business position, preferably in the public sector. Knowledge of property legal descriptions is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to utilize Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and other business related software applications
- Working knowledge of basic office equipment – scanners, copy machines, fax machines, 10-key calculator
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proven ability to manage confidential information
- Ability to bend & lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must possess valid driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office setting.

Pay: $21.43 per hour
