Position Summary:
The Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing general maintenance, repair tasks, and upkeep of the Dairy office, Ag office, General Store, Cheese Store, and surrounding grounds. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who takes initiative, enjoys a variety of tasks, and thrives in an active work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Grounds Maintenance:
- Handle snow removal and snow event maintenance for sidewalks and emergency exits.
- Mow, weed, and trim all company property.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of parking lots, outdoor furniture, and retaining walls.
- Monitor outdoor surfaces and lots for safety and repair needs.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to coordinate work with outside vendors as needed.
Facilities Maintenance:
- Address maintenance needs in the Dairy and Ag offices including plumbing, HVAC, lighting, décor, and furniture.
- Handle maintenance and equipment repairs in the General Store and Cheese Store.
- Assist with ongoing trash, recycling, and specialty waste removal.
- Manage storage and organization of records.
- Support vendor coordination for specialized services.
Other Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and report potential hazards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Availability:
- Regular, dependable attendance required.
- Flexible schedule including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior maintenance or groundskeeping experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Willingness to learn and operate equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, payloader).
Skills:
- Self-motivated with strong time management.
- Good communication and a team-player attitude.
- Able to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 60 lbs; Push/pull up to 70 lbs.
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, balancing, and crouching.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
