What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician / Milk Intake position at Burnett Dairy Cooperative?
The Intake / Lab Assistant directs all liquid inventory processes (Milk, Cream, Whey, WPC, and Permeate) to assure product quality, crew safety and efficiency. This position includes truck scheduling, quality control, knowledge of intake equipment. Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the department and accurate recording of all production information including required documentation for regulatory inspection.
Job Requirements:
- Receives incoming milk trucks
- Collects and tests milk samples for the presence of antibiotics, acid and pH levels following established policies and procedures
- Document data and activities on all necessary forms
- Inspects Milk for non-conformities and reports any deviations to the Production Supervisor
- Monitors silo activity; responding as needed
- Maintains the Intake area in a sanitary manner
- Operate CIP equipment as needed
- Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision
- 2-2-3 schedule, 5 am - 5 pm, every other weekend off.
Education/Experience/Certification/License:
- H.S. Diploma required,
- Laboratory Evaluation Officer (LEO) Certification - ability to obtain
- Wisconsin Bulk Weigher’s and Sampler’s license - ability to obtain
- Wisconsin Food and Water Analyst Certificate - ability to obtain.
Physical requirements/Working conditions:
- Required to lift up to 40 pounds
- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, reach above shoulders, kneel, and crouch
- Must be able to work in varied environments; cold, hot, humid, damp
- This is an hourly position; overtime may be required based on workload and milk delivery schedules.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
