Senior Cost Accountant - Manufacturing - Houston, TX 77055

The Senior Cost Analyst will analyze financial data, focusing on improving budget accuracy and cost efficiency for departments and projects. This role demands a high level of attention to detail, critical thinking, and a commitment to process improvement.

Key Responsibilities :

• Financial Reporting : Prepare / review month-end journal entries, inventory reconciliations, and variance analyses. Lead audit requests for inventory testing.
• Cost Analysis : Manage cost rolls, evaluate labor / overhead rates, and review product cost accuracy (BOMs, routers, throughput rates, etc.).
• Inventory Management : Analyze inventory levels, lead physical counts, and improve inventory turnover.
• Reporting & Analytics : Explain manufacturing variances, standardize metrics, and monitor cost trends. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis.
• Finance Support : Develop KPIs / dashboards, track commodity costs, and support capex and freight analysis.
Qualifications :
• Required :
• 5 years of cost accounting experience in product or chemicals manufacturing.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Advanced Excel and BI skills.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Preferred :
• ERP implementation / conversion experience.
• Financial modeling and Power BI dashboard creation.
• Experience with JD Edwards ERP system for inventory and costing.
