Under limited supervision, operates a forklift truck to load and unload trucks. Move boilers, packaged material for shipment and/or storage. Able to make own decisions on proper method of loading trucks to utilize space, protect load and get the most quantity loaded. Must know how to secure freight in a rail or ocean container to protect the product. Have the knowledge to pull orders and prepare for shipment ensuring that the proper product and quantities were pulled. Must have a working knowledge of the bar code system, scanners and computer for checking the status of and shipping orders.
In addition, but not limited to the above requirements, this individual will be required, at times, to possess, troubleshoot, repair, or maintain the following:
- Following instructions supplied either in writing or verbal.
- Be responsible for correct truck, unloading, loading, product and utilization of truck space.
- Operate fork lift truck and various other loading equipment.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Store products in proper areas when instructed.
- Be familiar with all the component parts of each series of boilers.
- Check to verify that all outgoing products are of high quality and that the product is correct in count and type.
- Use bar code scanners and computer programs as instructed.
- Prior to entering a truck, verify it is “chocked”.
- Following the instructions of the supervisor, direct others in all of the above.
- Performs related work as directed commensurate with this or lesser rated labor grade.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures and decimals. Ability to compute rates.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge; ability to operate scanners
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift license
Other Skills and Abilities: Basic blueprint reading; use and understanding of measuring devices; use of mobile device
Safety Requirements: Protective Footwear Ansi Z41 Class 75, hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, neoprene/insulated gloves for filling LP cylinders and cloth or leather work gloves.
