What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist position at Burns Environmental Services?
We are seeking a detail-orientated and well-organized person to join our growing team. You will play a key role in the day-to-day activities relating to accounts receivable. Successful candidates will possess proven working experience in basic accounting practices, a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collections regulations.
Candidates must possess a positive attitude, strong phone contact handling skills and be an active listener. Additionally, having a strong work ethic, high degree of accuracy, being process-oriented, deadline-driven and the ability to work well in high volume situations are all fundamental qualities to have to be successful in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collections calls and correspondence in an active, fast-paced, goal-oriented Collections Department.
- Provide information to stakeholders directed towards resolving receivables issues and disputes.
- At the direction of management, negotiate outcomes beneficial to the Company.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts, including notices and legal filings/deadlines.
- Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
- Maintaining record-keeping for assigned accounts and submitting scheduled reports to management.
- Enlist the efforts of Sales staff and senior management as necessary to accelerate collection on delinquent accounts.
- Effectively communicate and follow up with Sales staff regarding customer accounts.
- Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounting Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years experience in a high-volume Accounts Receivable environment.
- Knowledge of best practice for billing and Collections procedures
- Familiarity with FDCPA and lien filings and timelines a plus
- Construction industry knowledge a plus
- Proficient in MSOffice (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Experience with CRM systems a plus
- Commitment to excellent customer service supporting business goals
- Professional communication skills both verbal and in documented form.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
