Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Civil Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Upper Midwest Region. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity. Opportunities may include, but not limited to :
- Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by municipal, cooperative, and investor-owned utilities, developers, and other transmission asset owners.
- Performing site grading and stormwater management designs.
- Developing permitting support documentation and narratives.
- Providing support for our clients during permitting and construction.
- Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
- Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
- Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
- Corresponding and / or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Participating in project proposal efforts.
- Performing quality control reviews for other engineers and designers.
- Develop innovative processes, tools and design solutions.
- Advancing into leadership roles.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Three (3) years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred. Master of Science degree in civil engineering may be substituted for one (1) year experience.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a dynamic, quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Strong knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques and principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills (e.g. hydraulic and hydrologic analysis programs, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Preferred
