PRECISION MILLWRIGHT
SUMMARY
Industrial Millwright will focus on the installation of large rotating equipment like steam turbines, gas turbines, and industrial compressors within power plants. Candidate will be responsible for the installation, precision laser alignment techniques, and commissioning of this equipment with strict adherence to safety protocols.
JOB DUTIES
- Install a variety of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, fans, blowers, gear boxes, etc.
- Assist other trades with verifying proper surface preparation, elevations, and grout forms prior to setting rotating equipment and skids.
- Utilize precision millwright tooling rough align baseplates and skids in to a level, flat, and in-plane state, potentially including the use of leveling screws or jacking mechanisms.
- Assists other trades with grouting of rotating equipment skids and verifying elevation, coplanar, soft foot, etc. after grouting.
- Assist with the disassembly and reassembly of rotating equipment seals.
- Plan jobs, including assessment, selection of material, etc.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and repairs
- Capability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Utilize lifting equipment and rigging techniques to safely move heavy machinery components during installation and repair processes.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks, identify and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Install and assemble complex turbine and compressor components including cleaning, inspecting, and replacing critical components.
- Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for mechanical systems
- Participate in failure analysis discussions
SKILLS
- Knowledge in all types of rotating and reciprocating equipment, including pumps, compressors, steam turbines, fans, blowers, gearboxes, etc.
- Strong safety performance
- Strong analytical/troubleshooting/decision making skills
- Ability to repair equipment back to standards
- Ability to work alone or as part of a flexible team
- Able to work with other trades
- Good housekeeping standards
- Planning/estimating experience is an asset
- Working knowledge of vibration analyzing and laser alignment equipment
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Windows)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Employees will be required to be able to endure long periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and/or lifting.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)

Pay: $39.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50 β 60 per week
