Retail Associate (“RA”)

Burnt Church Distillery LLC (the “Company”) is a craft distillery with a tasting room that serves craft cocktails, tastings, beer, wine, and small plate food items.

Summary of Position:
Reporting to Retail Manager (“RM”), the RA greets and assists customers as they shop within the store, answer questions related to the merchandise, store policies, and help locate items, as well as process payments and keep the sales floor tidy and well-stocked.

Position-Specific Responsibilities:
Position-specific responsibilities of the RA include but are not limited to, the following. Note that the responsibilities are listed in alphabetical order and are not necessarily in order of importance.

  • Customer Service. Greets customers as they enter the building and mercantile store. Develops solutions for customers by listening to their needs and recommending the appropriate products. Utilizes the Company’s payment system to cash customers out or administer returns.
  • Inventory Management. Assists the RM in maintaining the back stock room and setting up the merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Product Knowledge. Extensive knowledge of the merchandise sold.
  • Responsible Alcohol Service. Adheres to the responsible alcohol service operational procedures implemented by the Company.
  • Workplace Cleanliness. Follows all sanitary practices for general cleanliness and maintenance of mercantile store. Ensures that a clean and organized environment is presented at all times in the mercantile store and storage room.
  • Workplace Safety. Ensures a safe environment for guests and other team members to reduce the risk of injuries and accidents. Reports all accidents, illnesses, injuries, and safety hazards to the RM immediately.

This position does not currently have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a retail space and entails prolonged periods of standing and interacting with customers. This role routinely uses standard retail equipment such as the company’s payment system, computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, and stand. The employee is frequently required to reach, bend, stoop, carry, push, and lift objects between 25-50 pounds. Occasionally, the employee may be required to lift objects greater than 50 pounds.

Must be at least 18 years old to handle alcoholic beverages and 21 years old to pour alcoholic beverages.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position with a schedule that can vary weekly. The distillery operating hours are currently Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Required Education and Training

The below education and experience requirements are necessary for the position.

Education

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

· 2 years of experience working in a customer service or related role

· ServSafe Alcohol Certification, or the agreement to obtain the certification.

Benefits:

Since this is a part-time position, you are not eligible for benefits at this time, unless otherwise provided by law.
