Job Summary
BCEI has an immediate opening for a Preconstruction Manager / Estimator to oversee the preconstruction process for our U.S. based projects. This position will be based out of our Houston office with occasional travel throughout the U.S. As a Preconstruction Manager, you will play a crucial role in our project from initial design, all the way through the construction phase. You will work with internal and external team members to create project budgets, tender packages, and schedules to ensure the successful delivery of mission critical projects. A strong knowledge base in mechanical or electrical construction is preferred.
Preconstruction Manager Duties and Responsibilities
- Review all correspondence, documentation, and information in accordance with BCEI standards relating to the Tender / RFP process prior to distributing subcontractors / vendors.
- Coordinate with Engineers and Construction Managers to develop project specific scope sheets.
- Conduct and manage recurring preconstruction meetings to ensure that project deadlines are met.
- Host constructability review meetings with internal and external team members throughout the design process.
- Manage, track, and resolve all constructability issues throughout the preconstruction phase.
- Manage the creation of detailed MEP focused tender packages to prospective bidders.
- Investigate and research market areas to identify qualified subcontractor partners.
- Collaborate with internal team members to successfully onboard new subcontractors.
- Oversee the project RFI process during the preconstruction phase.
- Manage the submittal process with internal and external team members during the preconstruction phase.
- Oversee the value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising project quality.
- Evaluate and analyze subcontractor / vendor proposals for “best value” recommendations to the project team.
- Build relationships with subcontractors and design consultants.
- Oversee subcontractor scope review meetings with the project team.
- Manage the development of project schedules with the project scheduler and construction team.
- Create project budgets / estimates at key design milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, & 100% construction documents)
- Lead the project transition from the preconstruction to construction phase with the project team.
- Support the Construction Managers in coordination of the subcontractor award process.
- Training and mentoring of Procurement Managers
