Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician

Department: Rapid Access Unit
Job Summary:
Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of individuals in need of mental health support? Join our dedicated team as a Behavioral Health Technician, where you will provide direct and supportive care to clients/patients. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, monitoring health (including vital signs), responding to crises, facilitating group activities, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. Your role will be pivotal in supporting clients as they navigate their treatment plans.

- Admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients as needed.
- Monitor vital signs and signs of withdrawal, escalating to medical intervention when required.
- Obtain and document relevant medical symptoms and vital signs per policy.
- Administer medications according to training and policy, ensuring compliance with medication procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of medications and oversee client self-administration of OTC medications.
- Facilitate client supervision checks and maintain a safe environment in line with safety protocols.
- Assist clients with personal care as necessary and provide guidance in daily activities.
- Document client behaviors and significant interactions, reporting concerns to the treatment team.
- Participate in group education, support activities, and recreational programs as scheduled.
- Ensure all clients are accounted for during scheduled activities and maintain an orderly environment.
- Foster positive social interactions among clients and serve as a role model for recovery-oriented behaviors.
- Complete mandatory training and stay informed on policies, procedures, and regulations of the program.
- Knowledge of confidentiality laws related to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective documentation and interaction with clients and staff.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents and policies.
- Capability to work with basic math for medication calculations and record-keeping.
- Ability to establish rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Strong observational skills for monitoring client behaviors and documenting progress accurately.
- High School diploma or equivalent required, along with two (2) years of responsible employment in a human services or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant certifications may be preferred in some programs.
- Exceptions to qualifications may be made by the appropriate Executive Team member.
- Successful completion of a background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
- Completion of New Hire Orientation and all required training sessions.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
- Certifications in First Aid and CPR to be obtained within three (3) months of employment.
- Attain required training hours annually to maintain certification and compliance with program standards.
