The Town of Burrillville/Burrillville School Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Information Systems Analyst. This primary area of responsibility will be supporting the Town of Burrillville. This position will begin March 10, 2025.

Nature of The Work:
The Technology Department/Information Systems Department is responsible for working with all school and municipal departments, boards and commissions for technical and administrative matters relating to technology and telecommunications. This includes analyzing and resolving system problems (hardware, software and networks), evaluation and analysis of the need for new products, and strategies for system improvements and implementation.
Many of the tasks require independent thinking and decision making with written and/or verbal reports given on a periodic basis. The work may be confidential and/or privileged in nature depending upon the department involved.
Examples of Essential Job Functions:
Assists the Director of Technology/Information Systems Manager in the daily supervision of all aspects of school and municipal hardware, software and network operations in a Windows environment.
Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and VPN networks, as well as manager firewalls, routers, switches and other networking equipment. This includes internal and public WiFi networks.
Install, configure, and manage server hardware (physical and virtual), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other critical infrastructure components.
Perform system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing.
Manage several cloud-based and on-premises platforms, including Office 365, MS Exchange Online, Munis ERP, and support end users in using the platforms.
Troubleshoot and resolve or recommend a course of action for computer hardware, software and network problems as they arise.
Assists the Director of Technology/Information Systems Manager in planning and executing IT projects.
Assists the Director of Technology/Information Systems Manager in creating and implementing technology-related policies and procedures related to responsible use, cybersecurity, information security, disaster recovery, etc..
Assist with the telecommunications needs of the school department and municipal government (landlines and cellular) including pricing, problem reporting/resolution and recommending new services.
Maintain detailed records of inventory, system configurations, network diagrams, and procedures, as well as ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal IT standards and policies.
Maintain familiarity with the latest information processing technology and methodology and promote the appropriate use where feasible throughout the school department and municipal government.
Determine the technology needs of all school and municipal departments and assist with the purchase and installation of computer software, hardware and networking equipment as needed to meet these needs.
Other Job Functions:
Performs highly technical duties requiring independent judgment and initiative relating to automated processes and information technology throughout the school and municipal departments. Errors, legal ramifications or possible monetary loss could result from the loss of or damage to hardware, software or the information itself.
Requirements of Work:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, with a minimum of three years directly-related work experience, or any combination of education and experience that would be substantially equivalent to the above and provide the required knowledge and skills. Must be familiar with Hyper-V, Active Directory, Office 365, MS Exchange, and backup/restore technologies. Previous experience in a government setting or experience with tasks associated with a municipal government environment preferred. Position requires excellent interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written skills. Must be able to effectively interact with employees from all Municipal Departments and at all levels.
Ability to work nights/weekends and attend night meetings, as required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Physical Demands:
Position involves frequent travel between schools and municipal buildings, as well as occasional trips outside of the municipality to attend meetings. The employee must be capable of lifting and or carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Hand – eye coordination is required to operate various pieces of computer hardware and/or office equipment. The position may, at times, require constant physical motion such as standing, sitting, walking, stair climbing, etc.
Salary : $80,000
