What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier position at Burrito District LLC?
Position Summary:
For the right candidate, the cashier has the responsibility of being the most impactful. They are essential to the success and overall customer dining experience at Burrito
District (BD). A cashier must understand that we are in the business of hospitality and service which begins with a genuine greeting and smile. As any team member, a cashier should memorize and understand our menu entirely. Our guests rely on us to explain our procedures and ingredients. We must be ready to answer their questions and if necessary educate our guests about our food and menu. A cashier at BD understands not every guest is familiar with our menu, our cuisine or ingredients. A prospective candidate must have attention to detail and have organization skills that can be applied to every single aspect of our services ranging from taking orders, bagging orders, phone orders etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• To contribute, work, and behave in a manner that promotes BD’s mission and purpose for the restaurant
• Be genuine when greeting our guests and smile as they enter the restaurant or pull up to the drive-thru
• Be able to safely and assertively control lines in the front of the house (FOH) or manage the drive-thru
• Strong attention to detail, be able to focus while taking customer’s orders in-person, or over the phone
• Has the ability to learn BD’s menu accordingly to educate our guests on the menu items and perform appropriate ‘up-sale’ selling techniques
• Understand a cashier may have to repeat certain things or provide explanations to guests throughout their shift in a genuine and enthusiastic manner
• Complete training on point of sale (POS) to accurately operate each transaction and collect payment. Memorizing our menu and operating our POS systems is a must before the provisionary period ends and a formal job offer is extended
• To communicate with shift lead for any troubleshooting solutions for tools & technology used
• Learn and thoughtfully explain pick-up/drive-thru procedures to customers
• Is able to work in a fast-paced environment, be a team player, and communicate well with our team calmly under pressure
• Professionally call out guest’s names when orders are fulfilled and ready to be picked-up in the FOH
• Assists guests to carry out their food to their table when needed
• To be able to always maintain a clean, organized workstation. Also, assist with cleaning tables, chairs, countertops, and floors in the FOH and drive-thru area
• To assist with maintaining the standards of a clean/sanitized restroom and address any maintenance issues by reporting them to the shift lead or manager
• Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings for all team members to update and contribute ideas for ways of improve our operations and safety
• Always follow safety and sanitation guidelines offered by training and certification procedures
• Portioning salsa containers and keeping them organized, dated and stocked in their designated refrigeration area
• Always comply with BD’s uniform and grooming standards

Minimum Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
• To be fluent in English (Spanish is a plus). Be able to read, write, and speak in English
• High School diploma or GED equivalent, pending diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher will be discretionary to the hiring manager (for applicants with absolutely no experience)
• Possess a current Food Handlers Certification
• Possess a current TABC (not immediately required)
• Must present a negative COVID test result 2-3 days or current vaccination record before first shift
• Must comply with WHO/CDC guidelines defined for an essential worker, i.e. wear masks and stand within 6ft of guests and staff
• Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
• Possess basic math skills, be able to count cash drawer accurately, and process cash/credit/debit payments each shift
• Must be able to use and operate a touchscreen monitor
• Ability to carry and lift up to 30 lbs when needed
• Have the ability to be agile, to bend, crouch, reach, push, pull, and occasionally get on a step stool
• Ability to work, focus, and act professionally under pressure in a high volume working environment
