Burrow Global has a short-term Sr. I&E Technician opportunity available in La Porte, TX. This position will last 6-8 weeks.
The Sr. I & E Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability of the instrument and electrical systems at the client’s site that are required for the facility to operate in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner.
The Sr. I & E Technician will install, repair, maintain, inspect and calibrate indicating, recording, telemetering, and controlling instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, motion and chemical composition using precision instruments and hand tools. Also installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of manufacturing machinery and equipment – following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications using electrical or electronic testing equipment and hand tools. This includes all process equipment essential to the operation of manufacturing areas and facilities such as towers, heat exchangers, heaters, HVAC units, chillers, plant piping, etc.
Daily Responsibilities:
Safety
- Abide by organizations and OSHA safety policies, procedures and principles.
- Perform all assigned duties safely without injury to self or others
- Ensure all used tools are in correct working order
- Ensure all necessary permit requirements are met
Quality / Productivity
- Perform repair, installation, troubleshooting, calibrations, and some field design on electrical and instrument systems as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
- Write procedures for the checkout and maintenance of I&E systems throughout the plant
- Provide documentation of changes and modifications of the work assigned
- Review job requirements with co-workers to ensure clear understanding
- Perform all work to current established quality standards
Duties
- Read and work from blueprints, sketches and P & IDs
- Install and calibrate various types of analyzers
- Install and calibrate transmitters, transducers, controllers, positioners, actuators, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments
- Cut, bend and install tubing related to instrumentation
- Read and comprehend quality control manuals and testing specifications to obtain data used to test or calibrate specific devices
- Set controls to regulate factors such as current flow, timing cycle, pressure, temperature or vacuum
- Disassemble instrument or device to determine cause of defective operation
- Install power supply, wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment
- Works with high voltage up to 13.8kv
- Read electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and ladder logic for troubleshooting and system understanding
- Connect power supply wires or cables to machines and equipment
- Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus and components
- Diagnose, repair or replace faulty electrical components such as: relays, switches, motors, printed circuit boards and position sensing devices
- Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus
- Attends scheduled safety meetings and regulatory training or development to improve skills on new techniques
- Participate in audits and interviews including, OSHA, ISO 9001, PSM, PHA, etc.
Education
- Associate’s degree in Instrumentation or Electrical discipline, and
- 5 or more years of experience as an instrument tech working in a petrochemical or refinery environment.
- Electrician License is required.
Technical skills
- Strong knowledge in Excel, Word and other common computing software is required.
- Utilizes SAP to order parts, track work orders, and input charges
