What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transfer Driver position at Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc.?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Will drive Transfer truck to various facilities delivering a variety of commodities.
Will complete pre and post trip inspections.
Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times.
Must drive in a safe manner considering road conditions at all times.
Must be able to adhere to strict delivery schedules.
Must be able to maneuver truck in tight areas and uneven terrain.
Must maintain transportation and maintenance log as required.
Perform required runs in organized and effective manner.
Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times.
Obey all traffic laws and regulations and drive in safe manner in accordance with weather conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Will maintain good customer relations.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have a valid Class "A" California Commercial Driver’s License with no air brake restrictions. This position requires the review of motor vehicle records (MVRs) prior to or during consideration of application as well as ongoing review through California’s Electronic Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
Must have a clean driving record.
Must be able to communicate in English, and have the ability to understand and complete VCRs and log sheets.
Must be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions pertaining to assigned vehicles.
Must have the ability to follow instructions.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Professional driving experience of no less than one year required.
PHYSICAL:
Must have ability to operate a truck and be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Position requires ability to stand, walk, sit for long periods at a time.
Position requires ability to stoop, bend, climb and lifting.
Position requires visual depth perception.
Must have the ability to operate a truck.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will be exposed to changing road condition and closures.
The individual must be able to work effectively outdoors and under extreme seasonal weather conditions.
Potential hazards are exposure to excess amounts of dust, chemical exposure due to illegal disposal of hazardous waste or improper handling of materials. Also, possibility of being hit by flying debris, possibility of stepping on or being cut by sharp objects and exposure to loud noise.
The employee must have and use the company required safety equipment that will make his/her duties safe.
Required-Hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses/goggles, work boots w/steel inserts, earplugs, dust mask, gloves.
Optional- Support belt.
Salary : $64,900 - $70,000
