POSITION SUMMARY:
Floater - Commercial Driver
Will collect refuse or recyclable material from a variety of residential, commercial or roll off accounts during the regular driver’s absence. May also perform delivery or exchange of bins/barrels. Must have ability to operate a variety of trucks including front loader, side loader or roll-off.
**THIS POSITION REQUIRES PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THE WASTE INDUSTRY**
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Will drive roll-off, front loader, side loader or bin truck to specified accounts or designated commercial/ residential routes. May perform any of the following :
- Frequently push/pull bins from enclosures
- Operate hoisting device that raises bin or container into truck
- Tarp roll off load utilizing correct tie down methods
- Manually lift barrels and dump into front loader
- Will transport load to disposal area
- Will complete pre and post trip inspection.
- Will communicate with dispatch on an ongoing basis.
- Must maintain good customer relations.
- Must maintain cleanliness of vehicle at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
KNOWLEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a valid Class “B” or “A” Commercial Driver License.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Must have ability to understand and complete route sheets and dispatch tickets.
- Must have clean driving record.
- Must have ability to operate roll-off, front loader, side loader and bin trucks
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in waste hauling is required.
- At least one year of experience operating a roll-off, side-loader, front-loader, and bin/barrel trash truck.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
The job involves outdoor work and exposure to various weather conditions. Flexible working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required to accommodate waste collection schedules. Commercial Drivers should be prepared for physically demanding work and be comfortable operating heavy machinery. This position is exposed to changing road conditions and closures.
This job requires the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs., climb in and out of the truck cab frequently, and perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. There is continuous eye/hand coordination, handling, and wrist motion, hearing and smelling.
