We are looking for Diesel/CNG Mechanics at our Santa Clarita Hauling Division
SALARY RANGE: $34.00 - $37.90
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories
- Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.
- Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines.
- Remove and replace transmissions and brakes.
- Repair, mount and dismount tires.
- Repair and replace hydraulic hoses.
- Remove and replace breaks
- Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Must follow all safety procedures and policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of:
- Mechanical design and fabrication.
- Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
- Skill in:
- Use of power and hand tools.
- Use of diagnostic equipment.
- Acetylene and electric arc welding.
- Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Ability to:
- Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field.
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
- Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair.
PHYSICAL:
- Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs.
- Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, wind.
- Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust.
- Will be exposed to working on slippery conditions and cramped positions.
- Work is performed around, vibrations, moving objects, noise, dirt, dust, chemicals, fuels including diesel, gasoline, and various natural gases.
