IT Business Analyst (On-Site Position)

Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full-time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through company acquisitions and successful bid proposals. We have the following ON-SITE/NON-REMOTE position at our Fontana Corporate division:

IT Business Analyst 

SALARY RANGE: $95,000 - $125,000/year

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and help implement efficient business, financial, and operations systems to support Burrtec’s core business processes within the IT department. This includes gathering and analyzing data to support business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The Business Analyst is also responsible for generating and compiling reports based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to business issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time, or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.

• Meet with process and systems owners and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals and identify and resolve process and systems issues.
• Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
• Collaborate in planning, designing, developing, and deploying new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
• Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in systems across the organization.
• Create system design proposals and ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house information systems.
• Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers.
• Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems and other post-implementation support.
• Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
• Ability to physically be present at corporate office on scheduled business days 
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The Business Analyst will need to have one of the following:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of Business Analyst experience or
  • Associate’s Degree and 6 years of Business Analyst experience or
  • 8 or more years of Business Analyst experience
• Experience in the recycling and waste industry is preferred

COMPETENCIES:

• Proven experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
• Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
• Proficiency in SQL, including T-SQL and the creation of Stored Procedures. 
• Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Highly self-motivated and directed.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Must have excellent customer service skills and ability to provide professional phone support as well as advance support to internal customers
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods—up to 8 hours or more per day—manual dexterity and vision sufficient to operate a personal computer for long periods without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist, or eye strain. It also requires hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person, via video conferencing, and on the telephone.

The work area is primarily in an office setting and may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
