Job Description

Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full-time employees. Position Summary :

Provides a variety of services to support Material Recovery Facility / Transfer Station operations, including sweeping and cleaning, litter control, transfer trailer load trimming, and other cleaning / maintenance tasks.

SALARY RANGE : $20.50 / hour - $22.25 / hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and that additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.

Litter Patrol :

Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas to identify and address instances of litter and illegal dumping.

Utilize appropriate tools and equipment to safely collect and dispose of litter, adhering to established safety guidelines.

Data Collection and Reporting :

Maintain accurate records of litter collection activities, including the type and quantity of litter collected.

Prepare regular reports on litter control efforts and provide insights for improvement.

Equipment and Truck Maintenance :

Ensure that all litter control equipment, such as grabbers, bags, and safety gear, is properly maintained and in good working condition.

Confirm the trucks are cleaned out and swept.

Guarantee truck and axle scales are cleaned and properly maintained.

Report any equipment issues and collaborate with the maintenance team for timely resolution.

Regulatory Compliance :

Stay informed about local and state regulations regarding litter control and waste management.

Ensure all activities comply with environmental laws and company policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for community engagement.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical fitness and ability to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.

Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to litter control.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :

Minimum of 1-year work experience working in and around heavy equipment, required

Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or related field, preferred

PHYSICAL :

Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.

Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, snow, fog).
