What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Burt Process Equipment?
Position Summary: The General Labor (Building and Grounds) position will assist the Building and Grounds Maintenance employee with performing building and grounds maintenance, basic repairs, and other manufacturing support tasks as requested.
Essential Functions:
- Performs basic outdoor landscaping and snow removal tasks such as: sweeping, removing debris, cutting grass, shoveling snow and salting various areas during snowstorms.
- General labor tasks such as building and hanging shelves, assembling office furniture, moving office items such as file cabinets, file boxes, etc.
- Perform general repair and minor maintenance work as needed, including but not limited to changing filters, replacing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, painting/paint preparation, changing out toilets, fixing clogged drains etc.
- Assists at company events by setting up tables/chairs/tents, etc., cleaning up after event, etc.
- Keeps shop floor organized and free of obstacles by moving equipment and materials to their appropriate location, as well as removing any debris.
- Empties garbage into outdoor dumpsters, breaks down and discards cardboard, etc.
- Assist in manufacturing processes as needed, performing tasks such as measuring and cutting pipe, plastic welding, etc.
- Drives company van as needed for deliveries, pick-ups and other company related errands.
- Safely uses equipment and tools, including but not limited to mowers, power tools/hand tools, forklift, etc.
- Takes good care of equipment and materials used in work assignments.
- Maintains a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects
Knowledge & Skills:
- Mechanically inclined
- Experience in safe use of power tools and hand tools required
- Landscaping experience is a plus
- Problem solving and logical thinking
- Customer focused
- Ability to follow instructions
- Self-starter/independent thinker
- Time management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must have a Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs unaided
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to bend, reach, and climb ladder
- Must be able to travel at least 5% of the time
Environment:
- Manufacturing environment and outside in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to handle varying levels of stress
