The Associate Designer will be responsible for supporting the Design Team in all functions necessary to execute the design process. The ideal candidate assists and supports the Design team in the development of ideas and trends that support the brand. The role requires the individual to work collaboratively within a dynamic and creative design team.
Associate Designer Responsibilities :
Support in the design and development of children’s apparel collections from concept / inspiration through production
Create mood boards, flat sketches, and technical drawings using Adobe IllustratorMaintain records of approvals and final production bulk submissionsAssist in creating technical packages and artwork mill sheetsTakes photos and sends comments on salesman samples and pre-production samples with accuracySupport designer with printouts, swatches, notetaking, and CADs during seasonal line reviews with cross-functional team membersCreates market presentations and filters in-house design requestsCollaboration and Communication :Collaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process including merchandising, product development, and technical design
Support designer during seasonal line reviews with cross-functional team members including merchandising, product development, and salesAttend fittings with technical designer and design teamDaily communication and collaboration with Product Development and overseas factoriesProcess Management :Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the department’s calendar, including key events and milestones, while adhering to deadlines
Proactively prepare for design representation in printouts and cads for product line reviewsReview design samples with strong attention to detailEnsure accuracy in comments and approvals on samplesAssociate Designer Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field3 years experience in childrenswear designKnowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and fit standardsExceptional color senseExperience working with overseas vendorsStrong creative and technical skills in Adobe Illustrator and PhotoshopProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteSelf-motivated and exceptional artistic ability, with watercolor hand-painting skills as a plusResilience to adapt in the face of obstacles or setbacks, seeing them as opportunities for growthSeniority level
