BOOKSTORE BOOKSELLER
Hourly range: $15.20/hr starting

Booksellers are responsible for the day to day of Busboys and Poets Books! A large part of this will be assisting our guests, ringing up sales and general inventory and merchandising duties in the bookstore. Customer service and book knowledge play an integral part in ensuring our guests have an exceptional experience.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing disposition and be an enthusiastic, self-motivated bibliophile. Our bookstores are unique in that they are within a bustling, fast-paced restaurant, creating an environment of diverse roles and individuals.

SUMMARY: Direct support and inventory assistance for the location bookstore supervisor. The role of the bookseller is to handle transactions during their shifts, ensure proper maintenance of the storefront and sales floor, in addition to assisting the bookstore supervisor with returns and other bookstore related projects. Customer service and book knowledge are integral components to this job.
Responsibilities:

Greeting Busboys and Poets guests to the space and answering their questions to the best of your ability

Shelve and organize books in alphabetical order for guests browsing multiple times a day or as needed based on that day’s foot traffic

Assist the bookstore supervisor with book returns for their location; this can include but is not limited to pulling books, scanning books, and preparing books for shipment

Ensure accurate and timely daily reporting for the bookstore sales log of the previous day’s transactions

Accurately use the register to do the following: check guests out/process sales, process refunds, exchanges, and returns.

Accurately reset the cash register and pull cash deposits

Assist bookstore supervisor with receiving orders and putting them away

Daily/weekly cleaning of the sales floor, including but not limited to: dusting surfaces and shelves, sweeping, rearranging displays, etc.

This job does include additional support roles to support the bustling, high paced environment of working in a restaurant. This includes, but is not limited to: appropriately answering the phone, greeting restaurant guests, etc.
Qualifications:

Strong customer service and communication skills

Enjoys working within a team but is self-motivated and able to work independently

Ability to maintain an organized and tidy workspace

Bibliophile, or at least able to speak about literature and popular titles (both classic and contemporary)

High School diploma or equivalent

Ability to stand and be mobile during an 8 hour shift

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Night and weekend availability is required for this position
