As a Horticulture Supervisor you will be responsible for the following:
- Leading full-time and seasonal employees; including field maintenance, installation, planning and management of extensive floral/landscape displays.
- Responsible for timely planning, development, procurement, daily maintenance and general health of all landscape beds, coordinating plant and supply orders, equipment and vehicle needs and labor.
- Responsible for horticultural training and safety programs for all team members; cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, equipment and vehicles.
- Provide IPM support by scouting, recommending and assisting with nutritional, disease and insect controls and treatments and record keeping. This includes keeping all pesticide resource materials current and accessible.
- Assistance with planning, production, supervision and maintenance of containers, hanging baskets and floral displays for park. Training of all team members on correct pruning and watering techniques in park and greenhouses.
- Assist and execute management’s requests in support of park and departmental aesthetic and financial goals.
- Assists in storm damage cleanup and snow removal when required.
- Other duties, tasks as assigned by management.

- Must be able to operate and be proficient on loaders, tractors, forklifts, high reaches, walk-behind movers and large dump trucks.
- Must be able to work outside in both extreme heat and in cold, damp temperatures
- Ability to begin work early mornings and flexibility to work weekends
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- Education in Horticulture, Landscape Design, directly related field or equivalent work experience.
- 4 years progressively responsible professional horticulture experience including 4 years supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
- Licenses and certifications must be attained as required; including VA pesticide certification as needed.
- Valid VA Driver’s License required.
