Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Energy to join our Technology team. In this role, you will architect, develop, and optimize applications that support DNV’s software solutions for utilities. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers—to build robust software tools that enable energy audits, generate actionable recommendations, and streamline rebate application processes for energy efficiency, EV charging, and distributed generation products.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our technology solutions are reliable, scalable, secure and aligned with program goals, while delivering a seamless experience to utility customers and contractors.

The successful candidate will have multifaceted responsibilities and work collaboratively across software development and support teams to develop software products, services, and solutions along with implementing, monitoring and optimizing new and current systems for vulnerabilities. This position also partners with DNV Product Managers, DevOps, Business Analysts, Data Science & Analytics, Program operations staff, Software vendors and External development partners to build software solutions for our clients.

This role is based at our DNV office in Houston, TX, presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

What You'll Do

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience related to software development
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Software Engineer
  • Able to do context switching and manage work across multiple projects
  • Fluent in the following technologies and tools:
    • React, TypeScript, NodeJS,Vue.js, DevOps, HTML, JSON, jQuery, CSS, Web Applications, REST APIs
  • Experienced in Agile Methodology

The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. For the states of California, Washington, New York, Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Maryland only, the starting pay range for this role is $120,000 - $145,000.

Qualifications

What is Required

  • Building, enhancing and maintaining web-based, data-intensive applications
  • Going through some trainings to assist in in-house software configurations based on client needs; we offer SAAS to our customers
  • Requiring knowledge on best security coding practices and be able to monitor and optimize current/future systems for security vulnerabilities
  • Providing mentoring and coaching for IT personnel when required (e.g. good and secure coding practices)
  • Working with minimal specifications, completing all assigned sprint tickets on schedule, implementing changes in various environments (as needed) and continually managing this process.
  • Working with internal/external clients to clarify requirements
  • Occasionally leading and managing IT projects and associated systems integrations to deliver projects of medium-high complexity
  • Contributing to process improvement efforts, ensuring adoption of standard processes, tools and procedures that deliver sustainable performance levels
  • Assisting in estimation, planning and development of software projects, with a particular focus on best practices for technology, architecture, code review, and security
  • Creating and executing Test Driven Development (TDD) and implementing automated testing solution for web applications
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

What Is Preferred

  • Experience in developing AWS Microservices would be a plus
  • Experience in the Energy Industry would be a plus
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure, Azure Containers, DevOps, and CI/CD setup within DevOps
  • Experience in .net and c#
  • Experience in T-SQL

Salary : $120,000 - $145,000
