Job Summary/Objective The P&C Sales/Producer/Broker is responsible for driving new business sales by acquiring commercial insurance clients and expanding BBG’s lines of property and casualty (P&C) products. This position involves proactive sales calls, client servicing, marketing research, and strategic engagement with underwriters to foster growth opportunities. Additionally, collaborating cross-functionally to refer potential clients to BBG’s Benefits and 401(K) divisions is a key aspect of this position. Essential Functions/Duties The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Generate and cultivate leads to acquire new commercial lines clients, focusing on expanding the existing book of business.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell various lines of Property and Casualty products to existing clients.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits and 401(K) divisions to refer and pursue potential business opportunities that align with their services.
  • Engage in sales calls, provide quotes for new business, and ensure excellent service delivery to clients.
  • Attend regular staff meetings, participate in continuous learning webinars, and stay updated with industry trends and best practices.
  • Utilize sales CRM and other tools to execute effective email marketing campaigns targeted towards potential and existing clients.
  • Attend networking meetings and gatherings to expand professional connections and explore new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with markets and underwriters to strategize approaches for new business, renewals, and overall business growth.
  • Regularly track and report sales rankings based on total revenue to BBG and individual splits.
  • Meet minimum sales requirements annually.

  • Possess a strong understanding of commercial and personal lines insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles, with the ability to serve as a mentor to other employees.
  • Possess a strong business acumen to understand financial metrics, industry dynamics, and the competitive landscape.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies aligned with business goals. Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics and identify areas of improvement within sales strategies.
  • Proficient in analyzing client’s needs and recommending appropriate insurance solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey information clearly and transparently.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding clients’ unique needs, and providing customized insurance solutions.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized with excellent project management abilities.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex scenarios and develop solutions for clients.
  • Familiarity and proficiency in using relevant software applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other tools used for client management and communication.
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and client information.
Education and Experience Required:
  • 3 or more years of experience in a sales or account management function
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Virginia Property and Casualty Insurance License
*5 or more years of experience at BBG or in the insurance industry is required for the Senior P&C Sales, Producer, Broker position. Preferred:
  • Previous experience working in sales at a commercial lines insurance agency
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Virginia Life and Health Insurance License
Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Travel Requirements This position occasionally requires daytime and overnight travel. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for this position. Work Environment & Physical Demands This position can be performed remotely, on a hybrid schedule, or full time in an office. The P&C Sales, Producer, Broker operates within a professional work environment. The work environment is characterized by a collaborative and client-focused atmosphere, fostering teamwork and open communication. The work setting is equipped with modern office equipment, technology, and software necessary to perform job responsibilities effectively. The P&C Sales, Producer, Broker will spend time traveling during the week to meet with clients. The noise level for this position can range from low to moderate, depending on the specific work environment. The P&C Sales, Producer, Broker may occasionally need to adapt to changing work demands, such as handling urgent client requests, participating in team meetings, or assisting colleagues during peak periods. While this position primarily involves office-based tasks, the P&C Sales, Producer, Broker should be prepared to engage in a variety of activities that require physical effort and mobility:
  • Driving: The P&C Sales, Producer, Broker spends time driving to client meetings.
  • Sitting: A significant portion of the workday involves sitting at a desk while using a computer, handling paperwork, and communicating with clients and co-workers.
  • Standing and Walking: Some tasks, such as attending in person meetings, interacting with colleagues, and moving within the office space, may involve standing and walking.
  • Typing and Writing: This position requires frequent typing, data entry, and documentation.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally, the P&C Sales, Producer, Broker may need to lift and carry files, documents, and office supplies, generally weighing up to 10 pounds, in the office or when traveling and attending client meetings.
  • Telephone and Communication: This position involves significant telephone communication with clients, carriers, and team members, requiring clear and effective verbal communication.
  • Visual and Auditory Abilities: The ability to read documents, analyze data, and view computer screens for extended periods is necessary. Good auditory skills are essential for effective communication via telephone and in-person conversations.
  • Multitasking and Time Management: This position often involves managing multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing time effectively to meet client needs and deadlines.
