Job Purpose: The Occupational Health Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for providing clinical services, health assessments, and case management at a client facility dedicated to providing innovative solutions and services to meet the most essential needs and biggest challenges their customers face.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Providing nursing assessment and interventions within the scope of practice of the registered nurse (RN).
- Evaluate employees with work-related injuries and illnesses and/or personal medical conditions for their fitness for duty.
- Provide first aid/initial treatment and triage for site employees and contractors who experience work-related injuries
- Perform required screens
- Provide educational offerings to employees
- Collaborate with the client’s staff
- Lead and or participate in special projects assigned by the client leadership
Medical Surveillance
- Conduct, as appropriate, and/or manage all required surveillance examinations
- Provide medical surveillance support (testing and tracking) for client employees
- Provide Health Assessment services. This includes completing required physical assessments of employees and performing other selected tests as needed at the site.
- Provide Health Assessment employee review. Determinations of the employee’s fitness for work are communicated to management.
Medical Emergency Response
- Provide first-line injury and illness care for work-related conditions.
- Provide emergency medical response as required.
- Interface with local hospitals and emergency medical providers to enable quality and continuity of care following possible injury, illness, or exposure.
Case Management Responsibilities
- Provide personal and work-related injury case management as defined by the client’s policies and guidelines.
- Provide medical advice/input to site leadership on work-relatedness of injuries/illnesses. Organize independent medical examinations as appropriate and in coordination with the client
Health Promotion Program Role
- Promote and support client wellness programs.
Medical Record
- Provide adequate clinical documentation of services provided to Corteva Agriscience employees. This includes electronic medical records as well as traditional paper records maintained in a manner consistent with local law and medical practice.
Administrative
- Faxing/scanning/copying
- Answer phone
- Clinic scheduling
- Medical waste management
- Clinic stocking/purchasing/expensing
- Export/import test results
Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky
- BLS Certification required
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent desirable
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing is desirable
- Ability to organize, plan, work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to use and learn technology like Microsoft programs and other tools
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- 3-5 years of nursing experience
- 2-5 years of occupational health nursing preferred
Schedule: 20 hours per week, scheduled over 3 days over Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
