As an Occupational Health Professional at BHS, you'll play a pivotal role in assisting with the management of the occupational health program for our host organization. You'll provide clinical services, health assessments, and case management, contributing to our mission of helping individuals enjoy better and longer lives.

What You'll Do:

Provide Occupational Health Testing Services at our valued customer site of Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas.  The work schedule is a 9/80 schedule working one week Monday - Thursday from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM and the second week adding Friday working 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Testing for Dow’s Periodic Health Assessment program according to established standards and procedures.  The Technician performs a wide variety of testing which includes audiometry, spirometry, ECG, vision, respiratory fit testing, drawing and processing blood and urine samples,      

• Pre-employment drug screens, physical measurements, for pre-employment, periodic and MSR appointments.
• Clinical testing at the request of a physician. This may include any of the above testing, blood draws for personal doctors, Strep screens, and ECGs in an emergency situation.
• Breath Alcohol and Urine Drug Screening
• Ordering stock for the lab, management of lab data, scanning of medical information, and trouble shooting of testing equipment
• Scanning medical documents into the electronic medical record
• Perform diagnostic imaging examination, if registered to do so.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

• Certification in Hearing Conservation and Spirometry is required
• Breath Alcohol Testing certification is desirable (required if doing DOT collection)
• Urine Collection certification is desirable (required if doing DOT collection)
• Registration as a Radiographic Technologist, if performing diagnostic imaging examinations

The Technician must be highly motivated, able to work well under pressure, multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks.  It will be necessary tin interact with employees of all levels, and effectively communicate and understand the needs of the health Services’ Team.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

• Specific training in physical skills assessment and in the theory and implementation of specific medical testing is expected.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and EKG testing is also required.
