Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce has a long-standing history of growth and business development. Incorporated in 1919 and located in various facilities over the years, the Chamber has always had its home in downtown High Point. Currently, located in our new headquarters at 400 W. English Street.
As the driving force behind the economic growth that employs this region’s population, Business High Point - Chamber of Commerce also manages Congdon Yards and The Lofts in the downtown High Point area. We are pleased to be a centrally located Chamber in the state of North Carolina with more than 700 Chamber partners. We choose to refer to our members as “partners” because of the proactive attitudes and high level of support the Chamber receives.

Your Main Purpose :
This role requires a strategic thinker who can provide financial insights to support the organization's mission and goals. The Director of Finance will work closely with the executive team, program managers, and external stakeholders to ensure financial stability and transparency. This is a critical role that requires a proactive approach to financial management and a commitment to the values and mission of our organization.
Core Accountabilities :
Develop and manage the annual budget process.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Oversee grant management and reporting.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Manage cash flow and forecasting.
Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
Monitor and manage financial risks.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
Support fundraising efforts with financial data and analysis.
Collaborate with program managers to develop and monitor program budgets.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
Oversee payroll processing and related compliance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Provide training and support to staff on financial matters.
Assist in the development of financial strategies and long-term planning.
Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
Manage relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
Stay current with changes in nonprofit financial regulations and best practices.
Oversee and manage the relationship with the Fractional CFO.
Oversee and manage the relationship with our HR and IT contract partners, including ensuring staff is aware of how to interact with outside providers and when to interact with providers.
Essential Knowledge :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit financial management (perferred).
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
Experience with grant management and reporting.
Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with audit processes and managing external auditors.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred.
