BID #2 oversees some of Milwaukee’s top attractions, including the Milwaukee Public Market, Riverwalk Commons (pickleball courts and concert venue), two parking structures, multiple pocket parks, and the future Downtown Dog Park. Job Overview:

The Historic Third Ward BID #2 is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Security to lead and manage our security team, which consists of 8-11 professionals. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and security of our businesses, residents, and visitors while maintaining a healthy and productive work environment. The Director of Security will oversee day-to-day operations, staff development, and uphold a positive company culture that encourages teamwork. This is an in-person, full-time, salaried position with benefits, responsible for supervising a 24/7 security operation.


Responsibilities Summary:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of a security team of 8-11 members, promoting a supportive and collaborative culture.
  • Safety & Security: Conduct regular patrols of the district, monitor surveillance systems, and respond promptly to incidents and emergencies.
  • Staff Development: Train, mentor, and support security staff to ensure adherence to protocols, emphasizing continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other stakeholders to address security concerns effectively.
  • Operational Oversight: Maintain accurate records of security incidents, manage staff scheduling, oversee timecards, and ensure optimal functionality of vehicles and equipment.
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of security policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Human Resources Support: Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and maintaining a workplace that values employee engagement and morale.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to stakeholders, handling inquiries and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a focus on managing teams and maintaining employee morale.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Proficiency in surveillance and security equipment.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience managing a 24/7 operation.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
