Job Overview
We are seeking a Life Actuarial Pricing Manager, you will lead a team to complete the product development process, from idea generation, through modeling and policy form development and implementation. You will utilize your knowledge to consult and influence management towards courses of action that have impact on products/pricing, assumptions, modeling, profitability, underwriting, administration, reinsurance and risk management. You will answer questions from stakeholders, such as internal/external auditors and agents.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for oversight and development of staff, including supervisory activities (e.g. performance evaluations, goal setting) as well as professional (technical, skill) and personal development.
- Oversees a specific actuarial function within the life/health/annuity actuarial division - includes overseeing activities, planning and visioning of future activities, and communicating results/recommendations to division and company leadership.
- Ensures work is completed according to applicable regulation and actuarial standards of practice, including maintaining current SOA Continuing Professional Development requirements, as well as ensuring staff compliance.
- Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas. Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.
- Monitor the industry and profitability of our products to ensure we are offering a competitive suite of products that bring value to both clients and the company
- Lead the product development process such that products are competitive, profitable and compliant with applicable laws.
- Provide insight to our executive team regarding needed product changes, etc.
- Collaborate with other areas such as valuation and underwriting to ensure the alignment.
- Drive the development of newer actuaries to help bring bench strength to the division.
Qualifications
- - Rich experience working with Life and/or Annuity products.
- - Strong technical and communication skills.
- - Life Pricing experience required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Very strong preference for someone with proven experience leading direct reports
- Relevant certifications such as ASA or FSA are a plus
