The RN Sterile Processing Educator plays a crucial role in healthcare facilities by ensuring that medical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for patient use.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Must have 3-5 years of recent experience in an educator or supervisory role in Central Processing/Operating Room with exposure or 5-7 years of experience as a Central Processing Tech with progressive responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Central Processing/Operating Room education/ educator
- Certification by HSPA, CBSPD, or related certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to evaluate and train staff effectively
- Proficiency in computer systems and educational software
Certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) , or as, Central Board of Sterile Processing Departments (CBSPD) or other related recognized certification such as an Operating Room Technician.
Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in sterile processing, perioperative nursing, or infection prevention.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
- Certified Surgical Services Educator (CSSE) or similar credential.
The RN Sterile Processing Educator typically holds an active Registered Nurse (RN) license, which is required to practice as a nurse. In many cases, the educator may also have a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree, although an RN with an associate degree may also be qualified. Additionally, they may hold specialized certifications in sterile processing, such as:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs for new staff and affiliating students.
- Assess staff competencies and ensure integration into their technical roles.
- Provide feedback on work performance and recommend continued employment.
- Coordinate with Operating Room (OR) staff to schedule clinical rotations.
- Apply adult learning principles to training and development.
- Educate staff on new CPD technologies, policies, and procedures.
- Track training progress and maintain employee records.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and contribute to improvement projects.
- Maintain current knowledge in CPD technology, sterilization practices, and adult education.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $57.43 - $60.81 per hour
