TITLE: District Payroll
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Twelve (12) Months
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Salary Exempt
GENERAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
At Red Mesa Unified School District, the District Payroll is responsible in overseeing and to play an integral part in operation of the district payroll and benefits office. Demonstrate a positive, professional, and understanding relationship with district staff; maintain a positive and productive attitude within the workplace; uphold personal conduct outside of the workplace; maintain a high-level of confidentiality; assure correctness of job duties as described within; willingness to collaborate to provide optimal efficiency and effectiveness for the operations of the District; adhere to and enforce policies and procedures set forth by the District.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Enters employee contracts and encumbrances into county computer system.
- Maintains employee databases; calculates and maintains benefits and deductions information.
- Ensures proper authorization of all payroll vouchers.
- Prepares payroll vouchers; process through county computer system, in a timely manner.
- Processes extra duty pay, employee leave, employee termination, and related items.
- Assists in maintaining proper audit trail and checks & balances: assists auditors as required.
- Ensures timely payment of benefits and deductions to vendors and agencies.
- Verifies expense warrants with other assigned staff when received from county; prepares and mails to vendors.
- Runs EOM reports as required.
- Prepares special report for lost checks and garnishments.
- Maintains payroll filing systems.
- Prepares payroll and payroll related journal entries.
- Provides reports for budgeting and planning purposes.
- Prepares state required SDER report.
- Gather employee attendance data.
- Enters employee information into the computer, and maintain employee’s absence information.
- Maintains employee files as required by federal, state and local entities.
- Collects time cards, time sheets and absence reports.
- Provides notary public services.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
- Assist with duties and responsibilities as needed in Accounts Payable, Receiving, and Student Activities, Auxiliary,
- Provides payroll support/assistance for all District departments throughout as needed;
- Provides exceptional customer service to the public and District staff;
- Performs other tasks/duties and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by the Business Office supervisor, Superintendent, school principals, or the Governing Board.
QUALIFICATION: AA/AS Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Management, or other related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year experience with public school payroll in Arizona.
Experience with the following software is preferred: Tyler Tech Infinite Visions (Enterprise) and/or I-Visions, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Google G-Suite for Education;
Have experience working in a multicultural/rural; Navajo or Native American Preferred.
LICENSE: Valid Driver's License
