POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Collections Manager manages and directs the daily activities of the collections department. Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations to ensure that established corporate, client and divisional goals are met or exceeded. Develop and propose strategies, policies and procedures that ensure effective and efficient operation of the activities within the department at competitive levels. Oversee and support the supervision, development and motivation of unit employees. The senior collections manager also provides assistance to the director of operations.
This position is contingent upon award of the Michigan Collections Contract
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directing of Teams
- Reviews daily production goals for the team and staff assigned to the unit collections manager
- Ensure staff adheres to company policies and procedures
- Enforce company/State policies consistently
- Coach and counsel all employees
- Schedule managers to insure coverage
- Directs all day to day operations activities
- Handles complaints from taxpayers
- Reviews rehabs, and reconciliation files
- Ensure client performance expectations are being met
Training and Development
- Conduct weekly staff meetings to discuss complaint prevention and training topic
- Counsel collectors, Supervisors, Managers and if necessary, carry out corrective action
Interviewing and Selection
- Coordinate with client when conducting interviews
- Select qualified candidates for Manager positions with guidance from Director and The Michigan Project Manager
Analyses and Reporting
- Provide accurate projections and forecasts for contract
- Manage payroll percent to acceptable levels
- Track Manager’s progress daily and provide any information requested by Director
- Inventory management
Compliance
- Conduct workshops to review company and client requirements as well as state and federal regulations
- Ensure departmental adherence to all company, client, state and federal requirements.
Assist Director of Operations
- Staffing and Seating assignments
- Helps in preparing monthly budgets and client forecasts
- Communicate with clients as necessary
- Prepares Analyses and reporting as directed by Director of Operations
Other Job Functions
- Other tasks assigned by management
- Regular attendance is required for this position
DECISION-MAKING LATITUDE
- The senior collections manager is given limited authority by the Director of Operations to manage the collections department.
- Determines training needs and works with Supervisors and Training to schedule training and provide staff development
- Determines staffing needs and salary changes.
- Recommends and implements process changes/improvements and cost savings initiatives.
- Develops volume forecasting and budgetary requirements.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree- additional equivalent experience above the required minimum may substitute for education
- A minimum of two years of collection/credit experience and/or bank experience preferably in default prevention. A minimum of two years collections supervisory experience required.
- Familiarity of the FDCPA
- ACA Collector Certificate preferred
- PC experience in a windows environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Management education preferred
- Professional development training preferred
- Budgetary experience preferred
- Excellent leadership and motivation skills
- Excels by using time efficiently, planning, organizing, and prioritizing to achieve the highest quality of work with maximum production
- Possesses excellent PC skills.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills

ADDENDUM
- The Senior Collection Manager will be required to be onsite in the Michigan facility five days a week.
