What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscape Operations Manager position at Business Resources One?
Southeast Iowa’s locally owned landscape design and installation company, servicing Henry, Jefferson, and Washington counties for over twenty years, is looking for an Operations Manager to join their team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read landscaping designs, review plan with designer, and implement the landscape construction plan.
- Correctly install containerized plant material, B & B trees, paver patios: stone, wood, or segmental block retaining walls, garden ponds and other water features, and low-voltage landscape lighting – with no supervision.
- Understand elevations and use this knowledge to execute the construction plan.
- Interact with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to client requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion – all while projecting a professional image.
- Complete the necessary paperwork including timesheets, work orders, change orders, material requisitions, and client tickets.
- Manage a team of two or more Team Members, including handling personnel issues on site and training Team Members on policies and procedures.
- Fill out a brief daily log of job and of team members’ performance (PRO’s and CON’s).
- Brief owner and makes recommendations on job status, personnel issues on site and training team members on policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including work sites and equipment.
- Works as a member of the team.
- Maintain assigned equipment, lead and direct in house repairs, and notify owner of outside needed repairs.
Knowledge and Experience
- A high school degree or GED is preferred. Experience in the landscaping field is also preferable.
- The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard construction practices, basic understanding of electricity, and basic piping and plumbing concepts.
- Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, corrective pruning, and fertilization.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, math skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude are a must. The Team Leader will closely work with members of the team, as well as clients.
- Iowa Driver’s License and insurable the company’s agent
Certifications
Position requires that the individual be working on the following certifications and licensing:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A Combination
- First aid / CPR
- Licensed to apply chemicals
Certification Goals
- Become certified with the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI)
- Become a Certified Nursery Professional with the Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association (INLA)
- Become a Landscape Industry Certified Technician (CLT) through PLANET— Professional Landcare Network
