Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the Product Design Manager and be responsible as an individual contributor for the overall products and services. Problem solving is your superpower. You can discover the root problem before anyone else and know the end user better than they do. You understand what customers say may not match what they do when interacting with a product. You can take human-centered design principles and translate them into development language. There is no such thing as UX/UI anymore. You provide coaching opportunities so that product and development teams can change their behavior to make better, more informed decisions about goals and requirements.
UX initiatives you will impact:
We're seeking someone passionate about creating and translating BusPatrol's design system from Figma into Storybook components. Each scrum team will use the component library to enable scalable, modular components, have a unified language, design consistency, and foster inclusivity. By providing a "blueprint" (e.g. time, tools, resources, accessibility, education, documentation) and anticipating their needs, you ensure the component library can be used effectively by developers.
What we need you to do:
- Creates and produces Figma UI components that consist of interactions, design tokens, variants, and UX patterns throughout all stages of the design process
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics
- Be the UX sandwich. Close collaboration with UX developers, product designers, and product management on UX initiatives
- Create and maintain BusPatrol’s design system, including roadmap and backlog for product design
- Coach others to practice human centered design
- Identifying gaps in UX strategy and innovation to drive change and meet unmet needs of customers
- Provide UX annotations or design specs for development and product
- Conduct Product Design Quality Assurance (PDQA) / UX review for development
- You will make decisions in a process light environment, with a lean towards rolling up your sleeves and getting a deep understanding of issues and be seen as someone who is there to partner and lead from the front
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in product design/UX design
- 5 years design system experience
- Proficiency with Figma required (Advanced expertise)
- Experience in working in an agile framework required. You know how to manage design system work in Jira
- Must have work experience at a product focused technology company
- *Portfolio is required (Must have sample of design system work)
Some Preferred Experience:
- Hands on experience and understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript)
