Position Overview
The Director of Technology will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting our school’s computer systems, networks, and technology infrastructure. This position involves working closely with staff, students, and administrators to ensure the smooth operation of technology systems critical to both instructional and operational success, including the support of state-mandated testing.
Key Responsibilities
- System & Network Maintenance: Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot hardware and software systems, including computers, servers, printers, switches, and interactive classroom technologies.
- State Testing Support: Provide essential technical support for state testing, ensuring secure and compliant test environments across all systems
- Technical Assistance: Provide hands-on support to students, faculty, and staff, assisting with day-to-day IT needs, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Software & Hardware Installation: Install, update, and maintain software and hardware to ensure up-to-date, reliable technology across the school.
- Network Administration: Monitor network performance and security (LAN, WAN, IP addressing, subnets, firewalls), ensuring all systems function efficiently.
- Training & Documentation: Create and deliver training materials for staff, helping them use instructional and business-related software effectively.
- Inventory Management: Maintain records of technology equipment, ensuring efficient tracking, repair, and deployment of resources.
- Cybersecurity: Implement cybersecurity best practices and educate staff on recognizing and preventing cyber threats.
- Collaboration: Work with school leadership to align technology use with instructional goals, including enhancing digital learning initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3 years of experience in IT support, ideally in an educational setting or school district.
- Strong understanding of networking systems, hardware, software troubleshooting, and repair.
- Familiarity with state testing platforms and requirements (experience preferred).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and students.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A certification and networking certifications preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation.
