What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Education (PE) and Health Teacher position at Butler Academy?
Because movement is more than just exercise—it’s a foundation for lifelong success.
At Butler Academy (BA), we believe that Physical Education isn’t just a class—it’s an experience. While many schools are scaling back on PE, we’re doubling down on it. Why? Because we know that movement fuels learning, teamwork builds character, and active kids are engaged kids.
We are searching for a passionate, energetic, and innovative PE teacher who can inspire a love for movement, fitness, and overall well-being. The perfect candidate will see PE as more than just sports—it’s about teaching resilience, goal-setting, and social-emotional skills through movement.
If you’re the type of educator who can turn a distracted scholar into an engaged participant, make exercise fun, and transform every lesson into an adventure, we want YOU on our team.
Why You’ll Love This Role:

- Small class sizes = Big impact. With a max of 14 scholars per class, you can truly connect with and inspire each student.
- Off-campus PE. Classes take place off-site, so you’ll drive a 14-passenger bus (no CDL required) to transport scholars to their physical activity space.

✔ Teach More Than Sports – Help students develop teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and leadership skills.
✔ Connect Health & Wellness – Instill an understanding of how exercise, nutrition, and mindset impact long-term well-being.
✔ Create a Safe & Structured Space – Manage your class effectively so every scholar feels supported and challenged.
✔ Differentiate Instruction – Adapt activities to meet the needs of all learners and skill levels.
✔ Embody the BA Mission – Uphold Butler Academy’s BRAVE core values and actively engage in school-wide culture-building activities, including Morning Huddle and Friday Celebrations.

✅ SC Teacher Certification in PE/Health (or eligibility to transfer certification from another state).
✅ A passion for movement, fitness, and child development.
✅ Strong classroom management skills to keep students engaged and learning.
✅ A growth mindset. You’re open to coaching, feedback, and continuous professional development.
