Part Time, Summer Job - WPA Summer Youth Skills Trainer
$17.00 per hour

Work Place Associates is a community-based program which helps working age youth and adults with mental health or cognitive disabilities regain or improve the quality of their lives through meaningful employment supports. Examples of typical services provided include career counseling, vocational case management, benefits education, job development, and job coaching. Our WPA program is seeking Summer Youth Skills Trainers to provide social skills, life skills and employment skills training to students with special needs.
Locations are available in Hamilton, Fairfield, Middletown, Loveland, Mason and Deerfield Township
Employment Dates are 4/14/2025- 8/15/2025 with training beginning in April.
Session #1 – June 2, 2025- July 3, 2025
Session #2 – July 7, 2025 – August 7, 2025
Hours: Monday through Thursday (hours will vary based on location of job site)
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction in a community-based setting
- Mentor and coach the youth/young adult through their work experience, in areas such as navigating the supervisor-employee relationship and emphasizing soft-skills development through one-on-one and group sessions with the youth
- Provide direct job coaching and training to individuals with disabilities and other barriers.
- Demonstrate and teach specific on-the-job duties and soft-skills such as work ethic, communication, work performance, and reliability. Discuss concerns and accomplishments, set up reasonable accommodations, and serve as a liaison between the customer and employer. Communicate with site to ensure satisfaction.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with professional and non-professional providers of support services for young adults
- Skillfully collaborate with professionals responsible for funding and planning services
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with consumers and other stakeholders
- Knowledge and enthusiasm about provision of non-traditional, community based services
- Complete/submit all required paperwork. Maintain case records according to professional standards
- Personal values consistent with the Agency’s core values and philosophy of service; prevention/healing/well being
Minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
- One year of experience in a vocational, educational, health care or residential setting for people with disabilities, preferred
- Experience utilizing health record system preferred
- Two Summer Youth sessions – each run for 5 weeks, hours may vary, Monday through Thursday.
The WPA Summer Youth Skills Trainer is a part-time, hourly non-exempt position, for summer only. We offer a supportive work environment with competitive wages and flexible hours.
