TITLE: Middle School Vocal Music Director
Reports To: Building Principal
Building: Ross Middle School
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
QUALIFICATIONS:
Appropriate licensure/certification through the Ohio Department of Education
Must be competent to direct, supervise, or coach a pupil-activity program.
Must have knowledge of rules and regulations established by the Board of Education to govern pupil activity programs.
Must acquire and maintain valid Pupil Activity Permit where required by specific duty statement.
Must have the ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of performing one’s duties if position so requires.
May have to travel between buildings in inclement weather.
Willingness to work as a team member with staff and parents.
Strong knowledge of the New Ohio Content Standards.
Desire to promote the successful learning of all students.
Ability to communicate effectively
Good organizational skills
Ability to use technological resources in instruction
Understanding of curriculum-based assessments
History of good job attendance
Must pass criminal background check
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Establish and maintain an up-to-date membership list of student participants.
Establish and maintain an up-to-date calendar of meetings/practices/events, etc.
Adhere to and properly implement the Extracurricular Code of Conduct and the Substance Use/Abuse policies and regulations for student participants as adopted by the Board of Education.
Coordinate other activities which may include:
Involvement in the Choir Booster Fundraising Projects projects
Select and make arrangements for choir uniforms.
Work side by side with Ross vocal boosters to enhance the quality of the vocal music program.
Coordinate annual Music in the Parks (or other music competitions) with Ross Middle School Band Director
Implement the policies and regulations of the Ross Local Board of Education.
Implement assignments and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Assist the high school choral director with show choir music rehearsals, choreography rehearsals, and student supervision during show choir camp as needed.
Assist high school choir director with music rehearsals, show choir rehearsals, and student supervision during in-school rehearsals, after school rehearsals, community performances, show choir competitions, and bus rides as needed.
Serve as assistant director for choir during rehearsals, concerts, and competitions.
Serve as lead director for Ross Middle School Show Choir.
Communicate effectively with parents and community members about the choral music program.
Regularly attend vocal music booster meetings.
Prepares all middle school choir concerts.
Prepare students for the Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest and/or plan for and coordinate participation in other music competitions (ex. Music in the Parks).
Cooperate, assist, and develop a good relationship with community and any supporting organizations.
Follow established procedures in financial matters.
Plan and supervise all activities of the organization.
Attend all meetings as required by the building principal.
Acquire and maintain valid Pupil Activity Permit, where applicable.
Secure transportation as needed.
Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment where applicable.
Salary Range: Per District Salary Scale
